JAMES HERRING

James Paul Herring, 78, of 1922 N. Berkeley Blvd., died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Jim and Maggie Thomas Herring and was retired from Goldsboro Builders Supply. Mr. Herring was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Sunday School and was a charter member of Pinewood Fire Department.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Smith Family Cemetery, located at the corner of Corbett Road and Hood Swamp Road. The Rev. Mike Grady and the Rev. Craig Langston will officiate.

Mr. Herring is survived by his wife, Eleanor Smith Herring; one son, Greg Herring and wife, Brenda of Hickory; one sister, Lois Jones of Hopewell, Va.; two brothers, Monroe Herring of Asheboro and Gene Herring of Charlotte; two grandsons, Jay Herring and wife, Heather, and Marcus Herring and fiancée, Emilie; a great-grandson, James Gregory Herring; his sister-in-law, Lou Kearney; and a special family friend, Margie Jackson.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church, 4009 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
