Florence Kornegay Ferrell, 83, of 830 Loop Road, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Rev. Vernon Braswell will officiate. A graveside service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ferrell was born in Duplin County to the late Ransom and Blanche Smith Kornegay and was the widow of Clarence Jernigan Jr. and Vernon Ferrell. She was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church in Albertson and attended Mays Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kirby and Carolyn Jernigan and Randy and Sandy Jernigan of Goldsboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Glenn Turnage of Goldsboro and Nancy and Maynard Bellamy of Clemmons; three sisters, Thelma Kornegay of Albertson, Bertha Kornegay of Goldsboro and Mary Dickson of Morehead City; three grandchildren, Phyllis Jernigan, Marcie Parker and Mark Turnage; and one great-grandchild, Jessica Jernigan.

She was preceded in death by a son, Philip Jernigan; a daughter, Dorothy Herring; and a brother, Milton Kornegay.

The family will receive friends at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home until 7 p.m. following the service on Thursday. At other times they will be at the home of Kirby and Carolyn Jernigan, 896 Friendly Drive.
