GEORGE LEWIS
George Harold Lewis, 78, of 704 Third St., died Sunday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rev. Vernon Braswell will officiate.
Mr. Lewis was born in Wayne County to the late Arthur Leland and Jackie Taylor Lewis. He was formerly employed with Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from the National Guard with 20 years of service and was a member of the Goldsboro Masonic Lodge #634.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Jackson Lewis; three sons, James Lewis and wife, Carol, of Wilmington, Allen Lewis and wife, Jean, of Saulston and Ray Lewis and wife, Pamela, of Goldsboro; one daughter, Claudette Cobb and husband, Doug, of Pikeville; two sisters, Syrona Johnson and Audrey Smith of Dunn; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service on Wednesday.
