KERMIT DEANS

Kermit Samuel Deans, 76, of 109 Longview Drive, died Sunday morning at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. Rev. Ira Williford will officiate. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Deans was born in Middlesex and was the son of the late Reverend Clement H. Deans and Lola Ann Cone Deans. Mr. Deans was a longtime resident of Wayne County and a member of United in Christ Church.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances Lynch Deans, two sons, Jeff Deans and wife, Kim, of Wilmington and Timothy Deans and wife, Wanda, of Goldsboro; one daughter, Beth Bass of Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters, Daisy Tanner and husband, E.O., of Florence, S.C., Naomi Deans of Cleveland, Tenn., Ruth Gray and husband, Don, of Christianburg, Va., and Donna Moore and husband, Mickey, of Cleveland, T.N.; one brother, Bruce Deans of Middlesex; three sisters-in-law, Mary L. Casey of Belfast, Rose M. Lynch of Rosewood and Mary Deans of Rocky Mount; three brothers-in-laws, Billy Mack Lynch and wife, Jean, of Statesville, Ernest Tedford of Goldsboro and Tom Hopkins of Manassas, Va.; and five grandchildren, Stephanie Snider of Charlottesville, Va., Lindsay Deans of Greenville, Matt Deans of Wilmington, Blair Deans of Raleigh and Nick Deans of Wilmington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Ray and Phillip Deans; two sisters, Daphne and Rachel; and his stepmother, Iva West Deans.

The family will receive friends on tonight from 7:30 until 9 at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory, and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to United In Christ Church Building Fund, 1314 Patetown Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
