GEORGE BOLLIN JR.

PIKEVILLE -- George W. Bollin Jr., 84, of 779 Big Daddy's Road, died Friday morning at the Veterans Administrative Hospital in Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The Rev. Rudolph Rowe will officiate. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery.

Mr. Bollin was born in Johnson Co., Kansas to the late George and Ethel Bollin. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pikeville. Mr. Bollin served in the United States Navy for over 10 years and was a Prisoner of War for 40 months in a Japanese Prison during World War II. He was lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, and the American Defenders of Bataan & Corregidor.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Bollin; three sons, Dennis Bollin of Springhill, Kan., George D. Bollin of Goldsboro and Paul W. Bollin of Pikeville; one daughter, Linda Marie Murphy of Cato, New York; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Howell Funeral Home following the service tonight.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Bollin may be directed to Kennedy Baptist Children's Home in Kinston or to the First Baptist Church in Pikeville.
