CARL LYERLY SR.

Carl Whitson Lyerly Sr., 82, of 107 Cassadale Drive, died Monday morning at his home in Goldsboro.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rev. Doug Johnson will officiate. Entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Lyerly was born in Rowan County on August 30, 1922, to the late Louis and Carrie Trexler Lyerly. He was owner and operator of Carl W. Lyerly Excavating Services, and was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church, the Disabled Americans Veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Verna Lyerly; two sons, Richard Lewis Lyerly of Goldsboro and Carl W. Lyerly Jr. of Raleigh; and one grandchild, Christopher Benton Lyerly.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro, and other times at the residence.
