GEORGE MYERS

MOUNT OLIVE -- George Harvey Myers, 83, died Wednesday.

The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Whitesides and the Rev. Millard Bounds will officiate. Burial will be in Calypso Cemetery.

Mr. Myers was the son of the late George and Mary Kelly Myers. He served in the military during World War II, farmed for several years, and operated a store for 45 years. He was a member of Bear Marsh Baptist Church, where was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher.

His survivors include his wife of 62 years, Annie Laura Swinson Myers; one daughter, Judy M. Brogden and husband, Douglas, of Mount Olive; one brother, Ed Myers of Mount Olive; two sisters, Carol Brogden of Mount Olive and Hilda Langley of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Jeff and Tracy Brogden of Mount Olive; four great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Rossie Byrd of Warsaw.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norwood and Morris Myers.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Tyndall Funeral Home.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
