JOHNNY BASS

EUREKA -- Johnny Mack Bass, 55, of 122 East Main St., died Thursday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Mr. Bass was born in Wayne County to Mack Bass and the late Sarah Anderson Bass. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Ava Bass, and Ed and Nellie Anderson.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served as a volunteer for the town of Eureka. Mr. Bass also enjoyed camping in the mountains.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Wilson Bass; two sons, Johnny Ray Bass and companion, Terry Ward, of Goldsboro, and Frankie Darren Bass and wife, Kim, of Saulston; two daughters, Wendy Carol Bass and fiancé, Greg Noll, of Grantham, and Cassandra Lee Bass of the home; his father, Mack Bass and wife, Betty Jo, of Kinston; one brother, Eddie Dean Bass of Stantonsburg; five sisters, Dolly Bass of Pikeville, the Rev. Jackie Bass Hamm of Goldsboro, Terry Bass of Stantonsburg, Patsy Bass of Kinston, and Susie Pate of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren, Tracy Nicole Bass Walker, Chris Bass, Breanna Bass, Ashleigh Cooper, Tanyon Noll, Shelby Noll, Myranda Reese and Ricky Reese.

The funeral will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The Rev. Jackie Hamm and the Rev. Marion Pete Bass will officiate.

The family will receive friends following the service on Monday evening at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery.
