ROMY L. MAYS
Romy Luther Mays, 89, of Abilene, Texas, formerly of Coahoma, Texas, died Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring, Texas, with Russell Mullins, minister of Coahoma Church of Christ, officiating and Don Allen assisting. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery, Coahoma Texas.
Mr. Mays was born on Aug. 21, 1914, to L.F. and Annie Mae Sullivan Mays in Jack County, Texas. He was married to the late Nora Lee Morren on Feb. 15, 1938, in Howard County, Texas. He had worked for Cosden Oil and Chemical for 35 years. He was a member of Coahoma Church of Christ.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Roma Lee (Mays) and Tommy Aberegg of Abilene, Texas, Jimmy and Dorinda Mays of Kerrville, Texas, and Dennis and Becky Mays of Selma; one sister, Minnye Cranfill of Big Spring, Texas; one brother-in-law, J.B. Morren of Duncan, Okla.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh Mays, Matt Mays, Kevin Mays, Russell Pharis, Richard Rodgers and Brent Polley. Clay Reid, a life long friend will serve as honorary pallbearer.
