SPARK HARDY
LAGRANGE -- Walter Kornegay "Spark" Hardy, 81, of 3650 Hugh E. Hardy Road, died Monday.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home. The Rev. H.C. Turner will officiate. Interment will be Thursday at 11 at Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Hardy was born in Duplin County to the late Langhorne and Eloise Kornegay Hardy. He was a lifelong farmer and was a member of Wheat Swamp Christian Church and Woodmen of the World.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Georgia Lee Hardy; daughter, Amy Hardy and special family friend, Richard G. Rouse; two step daughters, Tammy Philyaw Harris and husband, Chris, of Kinston, Terry Philyaw Brinson and husband, Timmy, of Richlands; sister, Sallie Hardy Smith of Goldsboro; two brothers, Lemuel Hardy of Kinston and Robert Hardy of LaGrange; six step-grandchildren, Dwane Brinson, Derick Brinson, Allen Ray Jones, Brittany Harris, Brooke Harris and Justin Stokes.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service tonight and at other times at the home.
Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Wheat Swamp Christian Church, 3732 Wheat Swamp Road, La Grange, NC 28551.
