BUREN L. ELLIS

PIKEVILLE -- Buren Lee Ellis, 61, of 383 Nahunta Road, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Ellis was born in Greene County to Nellie Burroughs Ellis of Goldsboro and the late Martin Van Ellis. He was a member of Goldsboro Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. He retired from A.P. Parts with 21 years of service and had worked with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department as a detention officer since 1997.

The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange with the Rev. Willard Hardison officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Hilda Smith Ellis; four children, Kenneth Buren Ellis and wife, Cathy of Princeton, Dawn Michelle Ellis of Greenville, Steven Alex Wiggs and wife, Penny of Mount Olive, Sharon Wiggs Yelverton of Pikeville; brother, James L. Ellis and wife, Dorothy of La Grange; eight grandchildren, Liz and husband, Adrian, Matthew, Willie, Harley, Renee, Michelle, Christopher and Rachel; a great-grandchild, Jasmine; and special family friend, Jerry Yelverton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service tonight, and at other times at the residence.
