JAMES H. CRAWFORD

James Herman Crawford, 81, died Monday in Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Troy Herman and May Sutton Crawford and was married to Mildred Moore Crawford. A self-employed asphalt paving contractor with Crawford Construction Company, Inc. from 1948-1999, he, also, operated Crawford Auto and Equipment Sales. A member of Rosewood Worship Center, he served as Deacon and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class since 1976. He was, also, a member of the Downtown Lion's Club.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pikeville Cemetery with Pastor Danny Freuier officiating.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Crawford Holland and Bobby of Goldsboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy Crawford and Susan of Surf City and Jimmy Crawford and Sheila of District Heights, Maryland; a sister, Christine Crawford Jones of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Charles Nicklos Visnosky of the U.S. Navy, Pearl Harbor, Lindsey James Holland of Goldsboro and Katie Amanda Crawford of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Crawford; and a grandson, Joey Steven Visnosky.

Family members will greet friends from 7 until 9 p.m. tonight at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at Kirkwood Retirement Village, 2710 Langston Dr., G-71, Goldsboro. They request that memorial gifts be directed to Rosewood Worship Center, 2103 O'Berry Center Rd., Goldsboro, 27530.
