KINSTON -- Haywood Hill, 77, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 30, 2004.

He was a loving and devoted man to his family and friends. Haywood was the son of the late Herman and Sadie Hill.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Grace Aldridge Hill, and four children. They are: Dr. Danny K. Hill and wife Brenda of Snow Hill, Jeffrey T. Hill and wife Linda of Kinston, Sharon Green and husband, Paul, of Deltona, Fla., and Amy Edwards and husband, Jeff, of LaGrange. His grandchildren include Danny K. Hill Jr., Ben Hill, Nathaniel Hill, Sarah Hill, Paul Green Jr., Brian Green, Kim Hill, Owen Hill and Lauren Edwards and one great grandchild, Tristan Green. He also leaves behind two sisters: Joyce Brown of Roanoke Va. and Ruth Ann Bland of Kinston, as well as three brothers: James Aubrey Hill of New Bern, Ronald Hill of Goldsboro, and Maurice Hill of Kinston.

He served his country in Korea during the 1940's. He then began a career spanning 41 years with a LP gas organization called Duke Energy. Local subsidiaries of this company were Sun Gas, Pyrofax, Tropigas, Petrolane, and Amerigas.

He was a member of Jackson Heights F.W.B. Church of Kinston. He faithfully worshipped the Lord and used his gifts over the years to serve as Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and choir member.

Funeral services will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 3, 2004, with Dr. Danny K. Hill and Rev. Willis Pearson officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday July 2, 2004, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jackson Heights F.W.B. Church Building Fund, c/o Dot Tucker, 202 Darden Drive, Kinston, N.C., 28504.
