MOUNT OLIVE -- Joyce Mason Hatcher, 68, of 840 North Church St., died Thursday afternoon at her residence.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Atlantic United Methodist Church in Atlantic, N.C. The Rev. Chris D. Humphreys will conduct the service. Interment will be in the Atlantic Community Cemetery near the church.

Mrs. Hatcher was a native of the Atlantic area of Carteret County and was the daughter of the late Dennis and Augusta Fulcher Mason. She received a bachelor's degree from Mars Hill College and in 1944 and graduated from James Walker Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington. She retired from Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro as a registered nurse with over 30 years of service.

She is survived by two daughters, Chris Hatcher Garner of Safety Harbor, Fla., and Nann Hatcher of Mount Olive; and a sister, Carolyn Gaskill of Sea Level, N.C. A son, Dennis Mason Hatcher, preceded his mother in death.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, and at other times at the home.

Flowers are welcome; however, memorial donations may be made to the Forgotten Patient Fund for Cherry Hospital, c/o Tanya Rollins, 201 Stevens Mill Rd., Goldsboro, NC 2753O.
