DAVID ARMSTRONG SR.

MOUNT OLIVE -- The funeral for David Lee Armstrong Sr., 82, of 223 Franklin St., will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ. Elder Joseph Warren Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Park.

Mr. Armstrong died Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

He was born in Duplin County to the late William Armstrong Sr. and Estella Armstrong. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, where he served as deacon, trustee, superintendent of the Sunday school and was an usher and a member of the choir.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie Armstrong of the home; two sons, David Armstrong Jr. of Wilmington and Willie J. Armstrong of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Harvey Armstrong of Dudley; two sisters, Emma White of Detroit, Mich., and Delois Hunter of Norfolk, Va.; and nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The viewing hours will be from 4 until 6 today at Garris Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8 at St. James Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, Mount Olive, and at other times at the home.
