PRINCETON -- The funeral for Mae Creech Evans, 87, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Oakland Friends Church. The Reverends Cecil Bryant and Rose Hicks will officiate. Burial will be in the Progressive Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Evans died Tuesday at Smithfield Manor in Smithfield.

She was formerly of 815 Oakland Church Road and was a member of Oakland Friends Church. She was born in Johnston County on Sept. 13, 1916, to the late Troy Andrews and Geneva Overby Creech.

Her survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Daphne E. and Michael Everett, Clara E. Hines and Cedessel and Marion Glover of Princeton and Kay E. and Benton Mitchell of Goldsboro; one sister, Edith Oliver of Smithfield; one sister-in-law, Bessie Creech of Smithfield; a very special friend, Grace Gurley; and 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton and other times at the home of Daphne Everett on Oakland Church Road.

Flowers are welcome, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Oakland Friends Church.
