DUNN -- Robert A. West Sr., 79, father of Barbara Parker of Goldsboro, died Monday at Rex Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
A native of Dunn, he was the son of the late John T. and Lalon G. West. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dunn, a Mason, and Shriner for more than 50 years. He was he owner of R.A. West Insurance agency for over 25 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Skinner & Smith Funeral Home. Dr. Lin Keever and Dr. Rick McDuffie will officiate. Bur-ial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
In addition to his daughter, Mr. West is survived by his wife of 59 years Edna Grimes West of Dunn, a son; Bobby West of Dunn, another daughter; Brenda Livingston of Dunn; a brother, John Ed West of Long Beach, Miss.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning.
