MOUNT OLIVE -- Gary Milton Stelly Sr., 71, of 657 Pineview Cemetery Road, died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Paul Rose officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Innocents Church Cemetery at Moss Hill.

Mr. Stelly, a native of Alexander County, Va., was the son of the late Howard and Annie McClenney Stelly and was a retired machine operator with the Phillip Morris Tobacco Company.

He is survived by sons, Gary M. Stelly Jr. of Greenbay, Va., Randolph Herring and his wife, Connie of Dewitt, Va., and Milton Marion Stelly of Nottaway, Va; a daughter, Diane Deans and her husband, Ervin of Colonial Heights, Va.; a sister, Yvonne Creech of Raleigh; brothers, Howard Stelly and Bobby Stelly, both of Norfolk, Va.; grandchildren, Michelle, Bobby, Little Gee, Scott, Little Milton, Victoria, Disarae, and Brooke; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Alexus, and Lorenzo; a devoted companion, "Half-Pint"; and special friends, Daisy G. Deans, John Lupton, and Jr. Lupton, all of Mount Olive.

His wife, Marian (Jean) Hardy Herring Stelly, and his best-friend, Robert w. Deans, Sr., preceded him in death.

Visitation will be at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 9, and at other times, the family will be at the residence.
