BEULAH HAMM
Mrs. Beulah Mae Hamm, of 606 Eleventh Street, slipped into eternal peace on Friday, June 4, 2004.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. J.A. Mumford, pastor of Bible Faith Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Spruill Cemetery in the Saulston Community.
Born January 18, 1926, Mrs. Hamm was the daughter of the late Arzetta Johnson Worthington and James Frank Worthington. She graduated from Central High School and Shaw University Divinity School and retired from O'Berry Center.
At an early age, she joined the church and served God faithfully. She was a member of Bible Faith Church in Goldsboro, where she served dutifully as Mother of the Church until her health failed. She used her talents as a writer to express her faith and two editions of her inspirational poetry were published.
She is survived by her husband, Ira Lee Hamm of the home; two sons, Curtis (Eleanor) Hamm of Williamsville, N.Y., and Garry Hamm; two daughters, Juanita Moses of Winston-Salem and Portia (Toni) Hamm of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one aunt, Lola Bay Worthington of Washington, D.C.; two great-aunts, Minnie Dancy of Jamaica, N.Y., and Armita Leary of Brooklyn, N.Y.; several other relatives and friends including Shirley Smith-Butler and Carolyn Hamm Jones, her sisters-in-law and devoted caretakers.
An inspirational wake will be held Tuesday from 7 until 8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
