MARGARET DENMARK

Margaret Griffin Denmark departed this life to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 30, 2004.

A service to honor her life will be held at First Presbyterian Church located at 110l E. Ash Street on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at 11 a.m. Rev. William Hufham will officiate.

Educated at Anderson College in Laboratory Technology, Margaret completed her training at Rex Hospital and then worked in Durham, North Carolina for the B.C. Medical Corporation. She later returned to Wayne County to assist in caring for her mother and became a Wayne County Health Department employee where she created and developed the County's laboratory and x-ray departments. She also developed the x-ray laboratories for the health departments in Greene and Sampson Counties. She later worked with the Microbiology Laboratory at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Ms. Denmark was a member of the American Association of Laboratory Technicians. Ever the scientist, Margaret believed that one could accomplish anything in life with science, heart, drive and spiritual faith. Margaret, in her lifetime, was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro and was also involved in the building of and the establishment of the congregation of Pinewood Presbyterian Church. A well known vocalist in Goldsboro as well as Durham, she was frequently asked to perform at area churches as well as Duke Chapel. Margaret was an original member of the Bicentennial Singers that subsequently became Goldsboro's III Century Singers. She was a beloved member and a soloist for that group for many years. Whatever Margaret did, she did well, whether it was fishing for that big catch on a North Carolina beach, expressing her faith and love through her musical talents or working to help her fellow man through her knowledge of laboratory science.
