WILLIAM MONTAGUE

William Ray Montague, 76, died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

The funeral will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. Pastor Donald Cashwell will officiate. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Montague was born in Wayne County on Sept. 18, 1927, to the late Samuel Otis Montague and Clyde Parks Montague. He was a veteran serving during the Korean War as an Aircraft Mechanic U.S. Navy petty officer 2nd class. He was passed employed by his father at Montague Feed and Milling Company, General Electric in Goldsboro and IBM in Research Triangle Park and retired from General Electric in Wilmington from the Nuclear Energy Division. He was a member of Ogden Baptist Church in Wilmington.

Mr. Montague is survived by one son, William Montague II of the home; one daughter, Deborah Montague Davis of Surf City; one brother, Wayman L. Montague of Nahunta, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Price Montague, and three brothers.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home.
