WILLIAM ADAMS

ETOWAH -- William Russell "Billy" Adams, 61, died Saturday at Mission Hospitals in Asheville.

He was the son of Ella Mae Kilgore Adams of Goldsboro and the late Russell Adams and was the widower of Evelyn Parker Adams. He graduated from Dillard High School and attended North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro. He retired in 2000 after working for Dupont, Sterling and AGFA for over 25 years.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sons, Rafrica Llessur Adams of Asheville, Imari Manu Adams of Atlanta, Ga., and Walid Hashim Adams of Etowah; one sister, Barbara J. Carney of Durham; and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The African American Collaquium (UNC-Asheville), c/o Dr. Dwight Mullen, 1 University Heights, Asheville, N.C., 28804-8507.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Brevard, under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Hendersonville.
