WILLIAM NEVINS JR.

MANASSAS, Va. -- William "Bill" John Nevins Jr., 68, died Friday at his residence.

He was the son of the late William and Susan Nevins. He retired from the United States Marine Corps as a major, having served from 1957 until 1979, including two tours in Vietnam. He was executive officer of several squadrons and stationed at Quantico, Va., in HMS1. He was Commanding Officer of Squadron 362 at New River Air Station, Jacksonville, N.C. His last tour of duty was at the Pentagon. After his retirement from the Marine Corps, he was a Realtor in Prince William County.

He is survived by his wife, Olivia Edmundson Nevins; three daughters, Susan Hill of North Branch, Minn., and Donna Nevins of Jersey City, N.J., and Diane Nevins of Boone; one sister, Maureen Gough of Watertown, N.Y.; and one grandson.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Price Funeral Home in Manassas, and the funeral will be held there on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. Interment will be in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Home and Hospice Care Service, 3900 Jermantown Road, Suite, 460, Fairfax, Va., 22030.
