MYRTLE HOWELL

RALEIGH -- Myrtle Thompson Howell, of 3728 Vesta Drive, died Monday.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home, Selma, with Richard Toler officiating. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery on Stevens Chapel Road near Smithfield.

Mrs. Howell was the daughter of the late Melton and Robenia Daughtry Thompson of Smithfield. She attended grades 1 through 7 at Brogden School and graduated from Princeton High School in 1935 and East Carolina Teacher's College in 1939. She was a teacher for 40 years, having taught elementary grades at Archer's Lodge School, Micro School and Princeton School in Johnston County and at Eliza Poole School and Clarence Poe School in Raleigh.

She is survived by her husband, Leon P. Howell; a sister, Dr. Janice Joan Thompson of Clinton; and a number of nieces and nephews and their families.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma and other times at the residence in Raleigh.
