DORIS STRICKLAND

MOUNT OLIVE -- Doris Holloman Strickland, 67, of 280 Thunder Swamp Road, died Sunday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

She was a homemaker and had been employed by the former Young Squire Industries. She was the daughter of the late Leonard Allen Holloman and Rosa Ella Anderson Holloman.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Strickland of the home; a son, Franklin Allen Strickland and his wife, Teela, of Faison; three daughters, Brenda S. McIntosh of Mount Olive, Virginia S. Knowles and her husband, Brian, of Mount Olive, and Janet S. Hill and her husband, David J. Hill III, of Pikeville; four sisters, Lossie Belle Witherington, Marie Baker, Peggy Edwards, and Janice Martin, all of Mount Olive; four brothers, Wilbert Holloman of Winston-Salem, Leonard Jr. Holloman and Kenneth Holloman, both of Mount Olive, and Edward Holloman of South Carolina; nine grandchildren, Christina Starling, Kimberly Dove, Jason Hughes, Kevin McIntosh, Shanyn Knowles, Amy Knowles, Tanya Hill, Andrew Hill, and Matthew Hill; and three great-grandchildren, Isaiah McIntosh, Hunter Starling, and Trey Dove.

A brother, Donald Holloman, and a sister, Ethel Darden, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Weaver officiating. Burial will be in the Holloman Family Cemetery near the home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 until 9, and at the home at other times.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
