Mr. Robert Edward Mooring Sr., 72, of 206 Plantation Road went to be with his Lord on Thursday at Life Care in Rocky Mount.

Robert was born on May 11, 1931, in Wilson County to the late Arthur Mooring and Obelia Blow Mooring. For 38 years, Robert sold life insurance for Durham Life Insurance Company. Robert graduated from Fremont High School and from Holmes Theological Seminary. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

For those who knew him, Robert will be remembered as a generous, caring and compassionate man. The love in Robert's life was God, family and friends. Robert was a long-time and faithful member of Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon and had served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer for the church, on the building committee, as Sunday school superintendent and as a trustee.

Homegoing services for Robert will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Don Sauls, the Rev. Willard Hardison and the Rev. Tom Dorman officiating. Interment will be Monday at 11a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife of almost 51 years, Mary Jean Cuddington Mooring; his sons, Edward Mooring and wife, Robin of Goldsboro, Mark Mooring and wife, Donna of Goldsboro and Kenan Mooring; his grandchildren, Trey, Elizabeth, Meredith, Micah and Mical; and his sisters, Louise Cunningham, Lillie Mae Overman and Dollie Rae Forehand.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur Mooring, Jr., Marvin Mooring, Donald Mooring, and Elmer Mooring; and his sister, Pauline Mooring.

Memorials may be made in Robert's memory to the Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Drawer 910, Pikeville, 27863.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Robin Mooring, 208 Plantation Road, Goldsboro.
