WILLIAM SMITH

William Harper Smith, of LaGrange Road in LaGrange, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April the 25th.

He was a retired farmer in the Parkstown Community where he lived and worked nearly all his life. He was also a retired member of New Hope Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Free Gospel Church in Snow Hill. He is most remembered for his constant smile and unmistakable laughter.

He was the son of Thelma Smith and the late Willie H. Smith of LaGrange. A loving husband for over 50 years to Jeannette Price Smith of the home, he was a devoted father to Cathy Smith of Rosewood, Sam Gray and husband Donald of LaGrange and Michael Smith and wife Amy of LaGrange. He is also the grandfather of Tracey Jackson and Crystal Barrow of Goldsboro, Jason and Jessica Gray and Jacob and Joel Smith of LaGrange. He is also survived by two great-grandsons, Jordon and Juston Jackson of Goldsboro.

In addition, he is survived by two brothers and three sisters, Bob Smith and wife Peggy and Bruce Smith and wife Rose of LaGrange, Ruby Pope of Goldsboro, Nannie Mae Barrow and husband Bud of Snow Hill and Margie Ormond and husband A.C. of Hookerton.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and each was held very dear to his heart.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Hollomon officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Smith Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the funeral, and other times they will be at the home.

Arrangements are by Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
