DOUGLAS CAUSEY

SHALLOTTE -- Douglas Leo Causey, 73, died Monday at Duke University Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Kermit and Eva Bennett Causey. He retired from the U.S. Navy with 22 years of service and from Sunny Point Military Ocean Terminal with 20 years of service. He was a member of Shallotte Masonic Lodge #727 A.F.&A.M., serving as its secretary for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Martin Causey; two daughters, Dell Marie Causey Pittman of Fayetteville and Lynn Causey Carpenter of Lincolnton; three brothers, Robert "Frank" Causey, Burnice Causey and Lonnie Causey of Shallotte; three sisters, Reba Platt of Cooper City, Fla., Verona Hughes of Ash and Emma Neal Hewett of Holliday, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon. Burial will be in Jennies Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Brunswick Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 623 Village road, Shallotte, N.C., 28470; or Oxford Orphanage, 600 College St., Oxford, N.C., 27565.
