JACK KORNEGAY SR.

DUDLEY -- Jack M. Kornegay Sr., 83, of 2488 Old Mount Olive Hwy., died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center.

He was born in Wayne County to the late Junius and Sallie Herring Kornegay and was married to Willie B. "Bill" Bell Kornegay. A veteran of the United States Army, he was a member of Dudley Christian Church and was the 2nd Fire Chief of Dudley Volunteer Fire Department.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Reverends Blane Smith and Doug Dexter will officiate. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Kornegay is survived by one son, Jack M. Kornegay Jr. of Dudley; two brothers, Mosley Kornegay of Grantham and Barney Kornegay of Emerald Isle; one sister, Dyana Pyatt of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Kimberly K. Brock and Kevin J. Kornegay; one great granddaughter, Courtney Faith Brock; and special friends, Ruby Massey of Goldsboro and Lynn Elston of Pin Hook.

He was preceded in death by one son, Terry M. Kornegay, and one granddaughter, Karen D. Kornegay.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Jack Kornegay, Jr., 2590 Old Mt. Olive Hwy., Dudley.

Flowers are welcome, and memorial contributions may be made to Dudley Christian Church, 212 O'Berry Road, Dudley, N.C., 28333.
