MARY BEEMAN

Mary Lillie Sutton Beeman, 88, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Lenoir County, she was the daughter of the late Roland H. Sutton and Lillie Belle Edwards Sutton and was married to the late William Frasher Beeman.

Mrs. Beeman worked at Wachovia Bank for 23 years and retired as a branch manager. A graduate of LaGrange High School, she attended the Hart's Business School in Kinston and completed a course in banking at Wayne Community College. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she served on the altar guild and was former treasurer of the United Methodist Women. She was past-president of the American Legion Auxiliary.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Billy Seate, the Rev. Bob Bame and the Rev. Shirley Ward officiating. Entombment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Beeman is survived by four sisters, Lucille Godinez and husband, Nick, of Summerville, S.C., Kathleen Sutton Whitley of LaGrange, Dorothy Sutton Ray and husband, John, of Asheville and Elizabeth Sutton Hardy and husband, Carl, of LaGrange; two brothers, Lee Carr Sutton of LaGrange and Thomas W. Sutton and wife, Myrtle, of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Sutton, Roland H. Sutton and Herbert Sutton; and a sister, Marie Sutton Croom.

The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; or the charity of one's choice.
