H. LLOYD MILLS SR.

GREENVILLE -- H. Lloyd Mills Sr., 79, father of Carolyn M. Davis of Goldsboro, died Sunday at his home after a long illness.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mr. Mills was a native of Pitt County and was the son of the late William Allen and Lala Mills.. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed by the United Sates Postal Service until he retired as Postmaster in 1985. He was a member of Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, Pitt Golden K Kiwanis, and the North Carolina Chapter of NAPUS, and was a charter member of Brook Valley Country Club.

In addition to his daughter, he is survived by his wife, Martha Whitehurst Mills; two sons, Harold L. Mills Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Raleigh; and Samuel A. Mills and wife, Cheryl, of Greenville; five grandchildren, David and Hannah Mills of LaGrange and Jacob, Courtney and Jonathan Mills of Greenville; two sisters, Dorothy M. Taylor of Greenville and Edna M. Ervin of Farmville; a brother, Charlie M. Mills of Greenville; and eight nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie M. Edwards.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 9 at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
