REV. JAMES JOYNER

KENLY -- The Rev. James V. Joyner, 71, of 201 S. College Ave., died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center.

He was the pastor of Kenly Free Will Baptist Church for 39 years, and the funeral will be held there on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Reverends Dr. Dwayne Eakes and Ray Wells will officiate. Burial will be in Kenly Cemetery.

Rev. Joyner is survived by his wife, Mary Virginia Joyner; one daughter, Polly J. Thompson of Pine Level; two sons, David W. Joyner of Wilson and J. Christopher Joyner of Port Royale. S.C.; one sister, Joel Ruth Gonzalez of Smithfield; two brothers, Robert S. Joyner of Bullock and Paul Douglas Joyner of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandsons, Michael and Mitchell Thompson of Pine Level.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Kenly Free Will Baptist Church.
