BILLY RAY OLIVER

Billy Ray Oliver, 69, of 365-C Oakland Church Road, died Thursday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Oakland Friends Church with Rex Evans, Curtis White and Cecil Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Oliver was a native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Robert Oliver and Zettie Vaughan Oliver. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a retired rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. An avid fisherman, he also farmed in the Oakland community. He was a member of Oakland Friends Church and a charter member of the Oakland Fire Department. He had served as Master for Oakland Grange and worked at its booth at Wayne County Fairgrounds for over 25 years. He also was treasurer of the Wayne County Pomona Grange.

Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife, Tillie Tart Oliver; one son, Billy Ray Oliver II and his wife, Robbin, of Goldsboro; two daughters, Lisa Ingram and husband, Jeff, of Goldsboro and Amy Smith and husband, Ricky, of Panama City, Fla.; his grandchildren, Brandon Ray Oliver, Anna Elisabeth Ingram and Andrew Oliver Ingram; and his mother-in-law, Minnie Mae Tart of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Ollie Gray Oliver Evans.

Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Oakland Friends Church, 921 Oakland Church Road, Princeton, N.C., 27569.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
