NORWOOD HOWELL

Norwood Howell, 76, of 375 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Pikeville, died Tuesday at the Brian Center.

The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The Rev Rudolph Rowe and the Rev. Gary Bradshaw will officiate. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11a .m. at Pikeville Cemetery.

Mr. Howell was a native of Wayne County, born on May 11, 1927, to the late Bill Howell and Clemma Roberts Howell. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and was a recipient of the Cross of Military Service Award. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pikeville where he served as deacon for five years.

He is survived by his wife, Drucie Ferrell Howell; two sons, Wayne Howell of Fremont and Danny Ray Howell of Louisiana; three stepsons, Randy, Kenneth, and Donald Parrish; two daughters, Lynn Hardon of Wilson and Rose Parker of Lucama; two brothers, James Howell of Goldsboro and Linwood Howell of Pikeville; two sisters, Mary Frances "Bet" Forehand of Pikeville and Sallie Myers of Greenville, S.C.; and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the fuenral home following the service tonight, and other times at the residence.
