JAMES GREEN SR.

Deacon James Green Sr., 86, of 404 Olive St., died last Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held this Saturday at noon at Barnes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Connie Best Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Locklair Cemetery.

Mr. Green retired from Rosewood High School, where he was employed as the head custodian for 28 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Shirley Whitfield of Goldsboro; a son, James Green Jr. of Newport News, Va.; one grandson, one great-grandson, two great-great-granddaughters; four stepdaughters, Annie Fairley of Maxton, Bessie Barnes and Lila Bell of Goldsboro and Mary Williams of Dudley; four stepsons, George Langston, James Langston, Milton Langston and Edward Langston of Dudley; and 36 step-grandchildren and 43 step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, and other times at 404 Olive St., Goldsboro.
