LEWIS RAY WEST

WARSAW -- Lewis Ray West died February 27, 2004.

Mr. West was born on June 18, 1919, in Duplin County, N.C., son of the late Luther Lawrence West and Cora Blanchard West.

He grew up in a loving and supportive family of three girls and five boys. All are deceased. His survivors are his wife, Margueritte Britt West, his son, Douglas Ray West and his wife Cynthia Clanton West, and a grandson, Zackary Clanton West of Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. West is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

For thirty-five years Ray worked with the U.S. Postal Service in the Warsaw Post Office and was very committed to his work and the community he served. In World War II he joined the Marine Corps and later became a member of the Warsaw American Legion. Ray was an active member of the Warsaw United Methodist church. He worked with the Senior Citizens and with the Boy Scouts, and in Little League activities.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Warsaw United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2004. Visitation with family members will follow in the Fireside Room. There will a private interment at a later date.

The family requests no flowers, but donations may be made to the Warsaw United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 422, Warsaw, N.C., 28398.
