SMITHY H. POTTER
SEVEN SPRINGS -- Smithy Hines Potter, 88, of 2807 Zion Church Road, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Potter was born in Lenoir County to the late Milton and Beatrice Outlaw Hines. She was wife of the late Melvin Joseph Potter and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Albertson Ward. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who had a great love of flowers, gardening and bird watching.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Potter Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Potter is survived by a daughter, Margaret Whitman and husband, Wendell, of Goldsboro; grandson, Wendell "Wendy" Whitman Jr. and wife, Loretta, of Seven Springs; and a great-grandson, Ethan Confer.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, and at other times they will be at the home.
Arrangements are by Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
