DAN LANIER

Daniel Robert "Dan" Lanier, 75, died Tuesday at Britthaven Nursing Home in Goldsboro.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wrenn Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids.

Mr. Lanier was born on July 2, 1928, to the late Benjamin Lanier and Laura Collier Lanier. He was retired from J.P. Stevens Company.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Hancock Lanier; a son, Robert Jackson Lanier and wife Maria Busa Lanier; a daughter, Danita Lanier Sisemore; his grandsons, Lenard B. Lanier and Thomas R. Lanier; sisters-in-laws, Selma Lee Lanier, Margaret Brown, Hazel Welch, Thelma Kasper, Betty Sanderson, JoAnn Smith; and brothers-in-law, Allen Welch and Pender Lee Smith; and twenty-two nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Gertie Bessie Kilpatrick, Annie Mae Lyles and Flora Elizabeth Martin; and one brother, Edward Clarence "Bud" Lanier.

Memorial donations may be made to the North Carolina State Park Service, 1615 MSC, Raleigh, N.C., 27699.

Friends and relatives may call at the home of Thelma Kasper, 408 Cedar Street, Roanoke Rapids, on Friday after 1 p.m. and following the service on Saturday.
