DUDLEY -- Albert Earl "Preacher" Bailey, 60, of 720-B Durham Lake Road, died last Thursday at his home.

The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. James E. King will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Spruill Cemetery in Pikeville.

Mr. Bailey was born in Wayne County to the late Ed Bailey and Mary Eliza Oliver Bailey. He attended Wayne County Public Schools and was employed for 17 years at Van Roekel Florist.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Brown Bailey of the home; two sons, Albert E. Bailey Jr. of Anderson, S.C., and Nathaniel Shadding of Goldsboro; a daughter, Gloria S. Payne of Goldsboro; two brothers, James C. Bailey and Rufus Bailey of Goldsboro; four sisters, Mary E. King and Lila Cates of Goldsboro and Lenora Sims of Pemberton, N.J.; and Geneva Harris of Durham; and seven grandchildren.

The viewing hours will be from 3 until 9 p.m. today at Hamilton Funeral Chapel and the family will be there to receive friends at 7 p.m.
