HERBERT JOHNSON JR.

Herbert Johnson Jr., 2123 N. Berkeley Blvd., died Monday morning at Britthaven Nursing Home of Snow Hill.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Taylor-Edwards Funeral Home, 117 NW Third St., Snow Hill. A committal service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Snow Hill Cemetery with Pastor Larry Turlington of Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church officiating.

Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 13, 1917, the son of the late Herbert and Minnie Ginn Johnson. A veteran, he had served in the Army during World War II. He was a retired tobacco farmer and a member of Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Inez Grady Johnson of the home; five sisters, Eva Bass of Wilson, Blanche Head of Virginia, Tiny Ham of Goldsboro, Evelyn Chase of Snow Hill and Jessie Smith of LaGrange; and three brothers, Bruce Johnson and Cornelius Johnson of Snow Hill and Hugh Johnson of Kenly.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service Wednesday evening. At other times, they will be at the residence.
