OCTAVIA BAREFOOT

CLINTON -- Octavia Register Barefoot, 95, of 63 King Road, died Wednesday at Southwood Nursing and Retirement Center.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Plainview Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Reverends Tony Moore and Clyde Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove.

Mrs. Barefoot was a native of Sampson County and was the daughter of the late Christopher Register and Barbara Barefoot. The widow of the Rev. Leo Barefoot, she was a homemaker and was a member of Bethany Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Edith Sasser and Garnell Brogden of Mount Olive, Frances Jernigan of Clinton and Iris Costin of Jacksonville; four sons, Shelton Barefoot and Floyd Barefoot of Raleigh, Glenn Barefoot of Pennsylvania and Gerald Barefoot of Roseboro; one sister, Pauline Jackson of Godwin; and 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and other times the home of Frances Jernigan, 63 King Road., Clinton.
