LOCKWOOD PEELE

AHOSKIE -- Lockwood Peele, 85, brother of Ivor Deane Harmon of Goldsboro, died Monday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Ahoskie.

Mr. Peele served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945. He was employed with North State Provision Company from 1946 until his retirement in 1989, serving as the president of North State for the last 10 years of his employment. He had served as president of the Ahoskie Chamber of Commerce, was a member of the Ahoskie Rotary Club for 48 years. He was a Mason and a member of the Roanoke-Chowan Shrine Club and also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ahoskie.

In addition to his sister, Mr. Peele is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mildred Peele; two other sisters, Reba Charles of Ahoskie and Irma Dunn of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Garrett's Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorial donations may be made to Sudan Shriner's Children's Hospital, Children's Fund, P.O. Drawer 490, New Bern, N.C.; First Presbyterian Church, Ahoskie; Ahoskie Rescue Squad; or a charity of the donor's choice.
