Midterm filing update

State Sen. Louis Pate Jr. of Mount Olive filed Tuesday for re-election in Senate District 7. Pate is a Republican.

The district encompasses all of Wayne County.

Wayne County Board of Education District 6 member Rick Pridgen also filed on Tuesday.

School board races are nonpartisan.

The filing period began at noon Monday and ends at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Filing for judicial offices is scheduled for June 18 to 29 in the wake of legislation eliminating judicial primaries.

The primary for offices other than judicial will be held Tuesday, May 8, and the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Filing is June 11 to July 6 for Soil & Water Conservation District supervisor (two members' seats).
