An investigation is underway after a woman said that she paid a plumber $773.14 to do some plumbing work at her home that never got done.

The victim said she paid up front for the work to be completed but the plumber only worked a few hours and never returned.

The suspect in this case is described as a white man, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a slim build and short hair.

Consumer information suggests asking to see a valid plumber's license before contracting any work to be done. Asking for referrals or letters of recomendation can also help weed out the less reputable outfits.

A reliable plumber will guarantee parts and labor on the work that is performed. It is recommended that you don't pay in full before the start of work but pay installments.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or any other crimes in Wayne County is asked to call or text Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or submit a tip at p3tips.com.

Callers will remain anonymous, and information leading to a felony arrest can be eligible for a cash reward.
