A traffic stop in the area of Thoroughfare Road on Dec. 30 resulted in drug charges being filed against the driver.

Paul Eugene Bennett, 48, 111 Wolf Lane, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

According to a sheriff's office press release, members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement, ACE, team were patrolling the eastern portion of the county when they pulled Bennett over for a safe movement violation.

Deputies were given consent to search the car and in it they found meth and a glass pipe used for smoking meth.

In a separate incident, on Dec. 22, members of the sheriff's office warrant division served an arrest warrant on Joshua David Lanier, 37, 2206 Arrington Bridge Road.

A press release issued Monday said Lanier's arrest, on charges of maintaining a dwelling for the use of narcotics, stems from two earlier drug arrests made in November and December.

The first, on Nov. 13, was of a Charles Williford, and the second, on Dec. 21, was of a Brooke Martin, according to the release. The specific charges against Williford and Martin were not listed in the release. It did say, however, that the arrest warrant taken out for Lanier was a result of the two prior arrests.

Lanier was taken before a magistrate and was given a $1,000 secured bond.
