Goldsboro police arrested a man while he was allegedly in the middle of robbing a local bank this morning.
John William Bolton, 29, of 100 Lisa Drive, Pikeville, is charged with breaking and entering, safecracking, larceny, damage to property, possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property.
D shift patrol officers responded to an alarm at the PNC Bank at 106 N. Spence Ave. at about 2:35 a.m., according to a press release.
A police report said the bank's security firm called dispatch and confirmed the suspect was still inside in the ATM room with a crowbar while officers were still en route.
Officers found the door on the south side of the building busted out when they arrived.
Officers made entry and arrested Bolton when they found him in the ATM room, with the assistance of K-9 Kenza, the release said.
Bolton was given a $35,000 secured bond on the charges.
His first appearance in Wayne County Court is Wednesday.
Police did not immediately respond to a request for further details.
