Man pulls gun on probation officer, flees after officer pulls gun in defense

A man pulled a gun on a probation officer and pointed it at her on East Chestnut Street Monday night, according to a Goldsboro police report.

Probation officer Sonora McClendon told police she was doing her routine duties and had on her work attire and a bulletproof vest.

She was leaving a client's home in the 500 block of East Chestnut Street at about 8:10 p.m. when a black man approached her and pointed a black handgun at her.

The report said she pulled her firearm on the man and he then fled north on foot.

McClendon told police she did not know who the man was.

The suspect on the report is listed as a black man in his 30s that is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a short afro.

He was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.
