Officers discovered a man was stabbed in the back early Tuesday morning when they found him walking down the road with the knife still in his back with a towel wrapped around it.

A Goldsboro police report said officers got a call about a man walking in the 2700 block of Warrick Circle.

They found him at about 3 a.m. with a red towel covering a knife stuck into the upper-right side of his back.

The man, identified as 37-year-old Manual Jackson, gave officers the name of the man he alleges attacked him.

Jackson reportedly told police he was at the man's house near where he was found and was stabbed because of a previous altercation with the suspect.

The suspect had not been arrested at the time of this report.

Goldsboro police are investigating the case.
