DUDLEY -- A Household Hazardous Waste and Pesticide Disposal Collection Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the county landfill/Dudley convenience site.
County residents can bring unwanted and old pesticides that they would like to dispose in a safe manner.
"They like for the pesticides to be in their original containers," said Kevin Johnson, Wayne County Extension Service director. "They will make exceptions because they do not want these old products to be throw in landfill or tossed in the environment. They will take pretty much any pesticide."
Other items that will be accepted as well.
Those items include: Solvents, kitchen cleaners, paint/paint thinner, gasoline, lacquer, kerosene, paint stripper, bathroom cleaners, aerosol/spray cans, spot removers, mercury debris, oven cleaners, upholstery cleaners, drain cleaners, tile cleaners, herbicides, batteries, brake fluid, pesticides, rat poison, powder cleansers, degreasers, metal polish, pool chemicals, mothballs, wood preservative and florescent bulbs.
There is no charge.
The county landfill/Dudley convenience site is located at 460 Landfill Road, Dudley.
