Social worker training course offered at community college

Wayne Community College is offering a course that will prepare students to meet entry-level requirements to be a Division of Social Services income maintenance caseworker.
The entry-level skills required to be a DSS employee that will be taught are basic computer and keyboarding skills, interviewing skills and resumes, workplace success and customer service skills, DSS terminology, and "NC FAST" terminology and navigation skills. NC FAST is an electronic system for processing social service applications.
The course will be taught Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6-8:30 p.m., June 5 through Aug. 9.
The non-credit course is a Human Resources Development course that is fee-waived for qualifying individuals who are unemployed, underemployed or have received notice of layoff or pending layoff.
An information session is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, May 22, in Room 161 of the Wayne Learning Center (main building).
